WEST CHELSEA
NEW YORK
—
NEW YORK FOR REAL
Creatively reimagined warehouse office space and retail in the West Chelsea Historic District.

A PIECE OF NEW YORK’S
HISTORY UNLIKE ANYTHING
ELSE IN MANHATTAN
Once the epicenter of New York’s early 20th century industrial distribution economy, Terminal Warehouse is being reimagined and adapted for the 21st century’s knowledge-based creative economy.
At ground level, the Warehouse’s iconic Tunnel, which features train tracks traversing the length of the building, will be a new destination animated by shops, restaurants, bars and open spaces. An outstanding amenity for office tenants, locals, and visitors alike.
HISTORY
—
‟THESE ARE THE ONLY STORES IN NEW
YORK AT WHICH RAILWAY CARS,
STEAMSHIPS AND TRUCKS ARE IN CLOSE
COMMUNICATION.”
- 1893, King’s Handbook of New York
Terminal Warehouse at 11th Avenue and West 28th Street was constructed in 1891 in a design style known as American Round Arch by architect George Mallory on land purchased by industrialist William Wickes Rossiter.
Given its unparalleled access to water, rail and road, Terminal Warehouse quickly became the functioning heart of New York’s vast shipping, warehouse and distribution industries. The New York Central Railroad ran down the center of 11th Avenue and straight through the building’s iconic tunnel where goods carried in freight cars were offloaded and stored in this massive warehouse. Positioned along the Hudson River, the building had links to a vast rail network and to the steamships bringing goods to New York City.
